Welcome to the Broward Zen Group

We are a modern Zen Buddhist discussion and meditation group which was founded by Carole Kyodo Walsh,  a member of Lost Coin Zen, emphasizing practice in daily life as well as sitting meditation. We invite you to join us on Thursday evenings from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Instruction/orientation is available at 5:30 p.m. before the meeting starts. There is also optional discussion from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Learn to tune out the Monkey Mind that needlessly occupies so much of our thought processes. Come join us for a classic Zen Meditation experience in a relaxed atmosphere. We do Zazen (sitting meditation), Kinhin (walking meditation) and Chanting meditation.

Our sangha (community) is composed of people from different backgrounds, ages and experiences who share a common longing to realize that indescribable "something" we intuitively feel, just beyond the comprehension of our thinking minds. Zen Buddhism is a non-theological spiritual practice so all faiths (or no faith at all) are welcome.

If you are also compelled to seek, no matter whether you are an advanced student or one who is just beginning the journey, we welcome you.

If you would like to join us or have questions about our sangha, please call Jim at 518-421-9789 or James at 540-266-0620 (Yes, they are 2 different people!) or just show up. We meet every Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for discussion and meditation, at the Herb Skolnick Community Center at 800 SW 36th Ave. in Pompano Beach. If it is your first time joining us, please arrive at 5:30 p.m. before the meeting starts for instruction.
